Reception Staff

From the time you enter Camden Surgery Center, you are treated with the utmost privacy and respect. Your individuality, and specific needs, is of the utmost importance in your relationship with our entire staff.

The reception area is comfortably appointed and you will be, pleasantly, greeted by our receptionist. You will be asked to fill out some paperwork describing your surgical, medical and social background for Dr. Cohen’s records. This will help introduce you to Dr. Cohen and allow him to better understand your needs and the reasons you chose our office for your care.

Your privacy is respected from the moment you enter our practice. We will ask how you may be contacted and the numbers on which pertinent messages may be left. Both Camden Surgery Center and Dr. Cohen respect the provisions determined and outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Our reception staff has been fully trained to recognize any apprehensions you may have and you can depend upon them to assure your comfort while waiting to see Dr. Cohen. Parking is available within our building, as well as immediately adjacent to our offices in Beverly Hills (Complimentary) Parking Structure.

Anesthesiology

Dr. Cohen has always utilized the services of a board certified anesthesiologist for his surgical procedures. The administration of anesthesia, during his cases, is provided by General Anesthesia Services Partners. This group provides all the anesthesiology care for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. An anesthesiologist is a medical doctor (MD) who has specialized in the administration of anesthesia. Since beginning his practice, Dr. Cohen has preferred to have a physician caring for your anesthesia needs during the surgery. You will awaken, in all likelihood, with little discomfort, nausea or residual anesthesia complaints. Their knowledge and familiarity with our procedures, further reduces the possibility of untoward, post-operative symptoms.

Operating Room Staff

Camden Surgery Center is understandably proud of the operating room and recovery room staff. The fully accredited, and licensed, 10,000 square foot outpatient surgery center is staffed by nurses who will care for you from the moment you arrive until you are safely on your way, following your procedure. Many patients return home with family or friends, while some choose to stay in an aftercare facility. Recommendations for these choices will be made in the course of your consultation.

As you arrive for your procedure, you will be greeted by one of our nurses who will admit you to the surgery center. You will be taken into a warmed, pre-operative waiting room where you will be assisted and prepared for the procedure. You will be speaking with Dr. Cohen and our anesthesiologist and greeted by the welcoming face of Flora Henry, Dr. Cohen’s nurse. She will be assisting Dr. Cohen throughout the course of the procedure.

Your relative, or friend, may remain with you until asked to leave by our nurse. The contact information for your family, or friend, will become part of our records. They may certainly call to check on your progress through out your time in our offices. You will be alert (and maybe a bit nervous) until you are escorted into the operating room suite.

The staff operating room nurse will remain with you to assist Dr. Cohen in any requests he may make during the procedure and will, in all likelihood, escort you into the recovery room following your procedure.

Recovery Room Staff

The recovery room is fully equipped with state of the art equipment and staffed by licensed personnel. Each of the five-bed recovery areas is individually equipped with all the monitoring devices suited to assure your safety and comprehensive care during your 2-3 hour stay. Although often the first voice you will hear when you begin to regain consciousness is that of Dr. Cohen, the nurses are close at hand to respond to any needs or questions you may have during this time. You will be able to communicate with them and they often receive complementary thank you notes from patients who have rested comfortably, reassured by their constant attention.

The recovery room personnel will be your link to your family and friends in assuring them of your uneventful recovery. Arrangements with the aftercare facility, should you be going to one, will be coordinated by our recovery room staff. The appropriate time will be decided upon for your discharge from our facility. Dr. Cohen remains in the office throughout your recovery and will make the final decision as to your readiness to be discharged.
