"As author of Red Hot Mama’s, Setting The World On Fire, I was not feeling so hot the day I looked at my photo on the cover of a recent book.  I thought the camera must have been out of focus, or that the photographer just took lousy pictures.  I’m a woman who works out six days a week and is fanatical about staying youthful.  Well, I can tell you, those pictures did not make me look as young as I felt. In the harsh light of day, I could see that I had aged.

As a breast cancer survivor feeling and looking alive is really important to me.  I talked with one of the female doctors I had met during cancer diagnosis about my desire to have cosmetic surgery and she told me to just go for it!  She referred me to Dr. Cohen and I can honestly say I have never looked back.  Dr. Cohen is what I call a “woman’s doctor”. He is more than an artist. He is a surgeon who truly understands a woman’s face and how to make it look its prettiest.

The day of surgery I was nervous, but compared to breast cancer surgery, this was a piece of cake.  I had a mid-face lift that also took care of the jowls and sagging neck, as well as surgery on my upper and lower eye lids.  When I woke up from surgery I actually felt really good.  From there I was transported to a luxury recovery suite which, although it cost a king’s ransom to stay there, was the best thing I ever did as it allowed me four days of complete rest and care which I know helped speed my recovery. The reaction from my family and friends was “wow”. Even my worst critic (my sister) said Dr. Cohen did a magnificent job.

Today I can’t believe I’m 59.  Recently I gave a speaking presentation at a cancer run.  I want to be an inspiration to other women with cancer and I believe it is healthy to look in the mirror and feel good about what you see.  I couldn’t be happier, or hotter!"

"For the first 38 years of my life, I always looked young.  Nobody ever believed that the five young children I had were mine.  I just looked too young to have so many kids.  Then age 39 hit and so did the aging gene.  Fine lines and wrinkles were not my concern. No. Things couldn’t be that simple.  My skin did not just become lax.  It began to sag, very rapidly and very dramatically.  It seemed like overnight I developed jowls – jowls that made me look ten years older than I was.  And to make things worse, my youngest son was just a baby and I looked more like his grandmother.  It was really the thought of always being considered his grandmother that made me first begin to think about having a facelift.

I went to see Dr. Cohen with every intent of having surgery.  I had my money in hand, ready to go under the knife.  Imagine my surprise when he told me I should wait a few more years. He informed me that I would see a better improvement if I waited a year or two.”  Instead, I had fat injections in the naso-labial folds (around my mouth and nose area), which put back some of the fullness I was beginning to lose.

I waited until I was 43 to have a facelift and eye lid surgery. I know to many people that still seems too young but in my case it really was necessary.  If I waited any longer, I knew I would regret it.  I had surgery on December 17 and on December 25 we went out for dinner.  There were no obvious signs of surgery except that my face was swollen.  With a little make-up, I looked great with the exception that my face was a little puffy.    Since then, I had a touch up surgery two years ago, and most recently, underwent rhinoplasty.  With age my face has changed somewhat and it made my nose appear larger.  I didn’t want a new nose, just the old one.  My nose now looks exactly the same as it used to.

My son is now almost 16 years old now and I’m glad to say that when we attend school events I look and feel the same age as the other parents.  Not the ten years older that I really am!"
